What is it? CERN, the high energy particle physics laboratory in Geneva, Switzerland, is where, in 1991, one researcher, Dr. Tim Berners Lee, essentially invented the World Wide Web. Berners Lee is credited with developing the idea of combining hypertext with the speed of todays electronic networks.
